In September 2011 Palerang Council dissolved the existing Hall and Park Management Committees and replaced them with the Captains Flat Area S355 Committee.

Currently the Area S355 Committee is responsible for the management of the Wilkins Memorial Park and the Captains Flat Community Hall.

Current membership comprises

·       Elizabeth Estbergs (Captains Flat Community Association) (Secretary);

·       Anita King (Captains Flat Community Association); (Treasurer and Bookings Secretary);

·       Peter Terho (Captains Flat RSL and Citizens' Bowling Club)

·       Levi Symington (Local Representation Committee Member)

This means that control of booking the hall, oval, cricket pitch, etc is in local hands. (See Charter, below.)

The Committee meets usually bimonthly.

Minutes are submitted to Council and included in its business papers for Council meetings.

CAPTAINS FLAT AREA S.355 COMMITTEE

CHARTER

 

Council approves the following delegations to members:          

1.         manage the use of the area identified as Lot 166, DP754866, incorporating Wilkins Memorial Park, Molonglo Park and Winchester Oval by sporting and other groups;

-           undertake any maintenance and improvement works required on the grounds subject to Council’s prior approval;

-           set fees for the hire of the grounds;

-           engage in fundraising activities to collect monies for the care, control and management of the grounds;

-           approve the use of the ground for any of the following:

·                     construction of a temporary enclosure for the purpose of entertainment

·                     hold a carnival, sporting event or public gathering for community purposes;

2.         be responsible for the care, control and management of the War Memorial located in the grounds;

-           conduct Anzac Day and Remembrance Day commemorations in Captains Flat

3.                  be responsible for the care, control and management of the Captains Flat Community Hall

-                      set fees for the hire of the hall

-                      engage in fundraising activities to collect monies for the care, control and management of the hall

-                      undertake any maintenance and improvement works required on the hall subject to Council’s prior approval.
