About the Association

The Community Association organises various events throughout the year, and lobbies all levels of government on behalf of the local community. Its most recent large project is Pathway To Gold. The association also runs monthly markets (see below).

Membership

Membership is open to residents of Captains Flat and the surrounding area. A membership form can be downloaded here and can be returned to the above address. The membership fee of $2 can be paid at a later date.

Next Meeting

The next meeting of the Captains Flat Community Association was to be held on Thursday 20 March 2008 at 7pm in the Captains Flat Community Hall, but has been postponed to 7pm on Wednesday 27 March 2008, to distance it from the Easter break.

Association Activities

Markets

The Captains Flat monthly markets are held in the Community Hall, on the first Saturday of the month from 10am to 2pm.  Go to the Markets page for more information. Profits from the markets mainly pay for the Association's public liability insurance, which in turn is necessary to run the markets.  However, the Association welcomes suggestions for other activities which would also benefit from the Association's input and insurance.

Captains Flat history book

Some years ago, the history of Captains Flat was documented in the book Boom To Bust And Back Again, pictured to the right. A larger version of the image can be viewed by clicking on the picture.

It was first published in 1983 and the second, updated edition was published in 1995. It comprises just over 100 pages of high-quality, glossy print, including many high quality photographs and maps.

The book can be purchased from most of the town's businesses for $25, or at the door at the monthly Markets. It can also be mailed to you. Please contact the webmaster for more details. Mail order will incur a small extra charge for postage. Credit card payment can be arranged for mail order.
