The aim of the prize is to choose a mural to be executed by the winning designer on the sealed entrance of the Lake George Mine at Captains Flat. The entrance, under the Lake George Mine 1937 sign, is of concrete render and is approximately 2 metres high and 3 metres wide. The entrance can be viewed from the public lookout, approximately 20 metres from the mine entrance. The mine entrance faces north and is exposed to the weather. Access to the mine entrance is fenced off.

The aim of the project is to unveil the mural on Australia Day 2007.

The time and date of site viewing for the Mural competition is Sunday 24 September between 3pm and 5pm.

Closing date for submissions is Wednesday 25th October. See entry form.

The Captains Flat Community Association Inc will choose the winner from the submissions. The submissions will be displayed in the Captains Flat Community Hall over the weekend of the 4th & 5th November 2006 and the winner notified shortly thereafter.

The winner will receive one thousand dollars ($1000) donated by the New South Wales Soil Conservation Service for materials to execute the design and one thousand dollars ($1000) donated by the Captains Flat Community Association Inc for the prize.
