  Forest Gate

Forest Gate is a privately-owned trail bike paradise, about 10km from Captains Flat.

The "review" below was provided by Fiona (thanks Fiona)!

"$20 per day per rider ($30 for quad bikes) - 8.30am - 4.30pm

The guy who runs the place is Mal - and his phone number is 0428 632 030

There are several tracks from an easy one for the kids,
one fairly flat around 1km around
as well as the motorcross jumps and enduro track.
All in all a pretty cool place.

He has two cabins which sleep 8 people each.  Neither have their own shower or toilet:
  • One is $40 for the weekend, plus $5 per night per person.
This only has single beds/bunks in it.
    A combustion stove and heater.
    No after dark lighting.
You would need either torches, a gas lantern or a generator of your own.

  • The other is larger - and has 1 queen bed in it plus single beds/bunk.
It is $100 for the weekend plus $5 per night per person.
Again it has a combustion stove and heater.
It does however have solar lighting."

To get to Forest Gate, drive to Captains Flat,
turn right at the T-junction in the village,
turn left (signposted to Braidwood) before the wooden bridge,
drive about 7km along the it road,
during a series of tight bends there is a right turn onto Wild Cattle Flat Road,
there is also a signpost for Forest Gate Camping Ground,
continue along Wild Cattle Flat Road until you come to the entrance to Forest Gate (on the left).
